Timbisha Shoshone tribe sues Dept of Interior over casino land application

The Timbisha Shoshone Tribe announced yesterday that they have filed suit against Department of the Interior Secretary David Bernhardt.

In a nutshell, the tribe is alleging the DOI allowed politics to interfere with approval of the land-to-trust application for the Ridgecrest property they hoped to use to build a casino.


The complaint against Bernhardt, Associate Deputy Secretary James Cason and the US Department of the Interior was filed on May 16 in the US District Court for the District of Columbia. Bernhardt is a recent a Trump appointee who was confirmed by the Senate April 11, 2019.
