Ramos to chair new committee on Native American affairs

Feb 28, 2019

Assemblyman James C. Ramos has been appointed chairman of the new Select Committee on Native American Affairs.

Speaker of the Assembly Anthony Rendon, D-Lakewood, said the appointment was appropriate since Ramos is the first California Native American elected to the state Legislature.

Ramos, who previously served as chairman of the San Manuel Mission Band of Indians, sought to create the Select Committee to identify opportunities to strengthen ongoing working relationships with tribes throughout the state.
