Indian Affairs official reaffirms decision to place Camp 4 into trust

The assistant secretary of Indian Affairs has affirmed a decision to place the Camp 4 property into federal trust for the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, ruling the appeals filed over the decision lack merit.

Tara Sweeney issued her decision Monday less than two weeks after a federal judge overturned the Bureau of Indian Affairs 2017 decision to place Camp 4 into trust and sent it back to her for a ruling on the appeals.
