Council to discuss terminating casino land sale Dec 19

Jessica Weston Dec 14, 2018

Casino talk is back.

In their final meeting of the year, the Ridgecrest City Council will discuss terminating the agreement between the Ridgecrest Redevelopment Agency Successor Agency and Global Investment Enterprise Ridgecrest, LLC, for the sale of 26.48 acres of property in the Ridgecrest business park for $5.5 million.

The staff report does not mention the word “casino,” but City Manager Ron Strand confirmed on Thursday that this is the land that was intended for the Timbisha Shoshone casino location. Council will be asked to adopt the resolution to terminate the agreement, provide alternate direction to staff or take no action.
