Tribe offers scholarship for environmental studies

EAST COUNTY — The Barona Band of Mission Indians is offering a scholarship for college students who are pursuing studies that deal with the environment.
The Barona Sustainable Environment Scholarship will provide four finalists with $1,000, and one of the four will receive an additional $1,000 based on a personal interview.
Applicants must be full-time students attending an accredited college or university. They need to carry an overall grade point average of at least 3.0. The fields of study must be related to horticulture, turf-grass management, natural resources management or environmental science.
They must have completed a minimum of 30 units, with at least 15 units of course work from environmental studies.
Applications must be postmarked by July 15.
