To educate people about the tribal gaming industry and impacts experienced in surrounding communities around the United States as a result of casinos, the founder and director of Stand Up for California Cheryl Schmit will give a presentation next week.
Schmit will be speaking to those interested in the issues surrounding the relocation of Eagle Mountain Casino to a Highway 190 site located near Lake Success during a presentation slated for 6 p.m. on Monday at the Porterville Veterans Memorial Building.
Among the points she is expected to cover are the potential impacts on local services like fire, police, medical, roads and emergency services. Schmit is also expected to speak about the topics like crime, water supplies and air quality in relation to the proposed project.
