Fortuna man arrested on charges of stabbing his father-in-law

Humboldt County Sheriff's deputies went to the Bear River Casino shortly after midnight Saturday in response to a stabbing that had just occurred.
When deputies arrived, they met with casino security and the 52-year-old male victim who had an approximately 4- to 5-inch wound across his neck.
The victim told the deputies his stepson, Sean O'Loughlin, 27, of Fortuna, had stabbed him when he was in the men's restroom in the casino and fled the before the deputies arrived. The deputies checked the area and O'Loughlin's Fortuna residence, but were unable to locate him.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.
O'Loughlin turned himself in to the Sheriff's Office in Eureka at 11:40 a.m. Saturday. He was booked into the Humboldt County jail on one count of assault with a deadly weapon. He remains in custody. His bail is set at $50,000.
