Two Orange County men are accused of using stolen debit card numbers to rack up about $25,000 in jackpot winnings at Pechanga Resort & Casino near Temecula, authorities said.
Hung Nguyen, 32, of Stanton, and Eric Hoag, 28, of Garden Grove, are suspected of using stolen Visa debit card numbers to buy gift cards at the casino and then transferring the credits to player's cards, authorities told the Riverside Press-Enterprise.
The gambling spree in February lasted for several days, authorities said.
Nguyen has been charged with felony grand theft, fraud and burglary, according to a criminal complaint filed in Riverside County court. County prosecutors have yet to file charges against Hoag.
Nguyen and Hoag also face federal charges in connection to a case dating back to last summer. They are accused of stealing more than $400,000 from Chase Bank in separate debit card scams in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Riverside and Orange counties, the newspaper reported.
Nguyen was arrested in March by Riverside County deputies. He bailed out of custody and was scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment hearing April 28, said John Hall, spokesman for the Riverside County District Attorney's office.
Nguyen and Hoag were arrested by federal authorities.
Both men have pleaded not guilty.
