Deputies arrested a man they alleged pointed a handgun at a woman and a Morongo Casino Resort & Spa employee, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said Saturday.

The incident took place at about 11:30 p.m. Friday when the employee was escorting the female guest to her room on the 19th floor of the casino after the woman locked herself out, according to sheriff's Sgt. James Burton.
When the employee unlocked the door for the woman, they saw a man pointing a semi-automatic handgun at them from inside the room, Burton said. The employee ran away and alerted authorities while the woman remained in the room, according to Burton.

“Deputies evacuated the nearby rooms and a verbal altercation between a male and female was overheard coming from the hotel room,” Burton said. “When a deputy called into the room and requested him to step out, the suspect voluntarily surrendered.”

Deputies arrested Andrew Robert Wagner, 25, of Twentynine Palms, for suspicion of brandishing a firearm.

An unloaded .45 caliber Springfield 1911 semi-automatic handgun with two fully loaded magazines nearby were found inside the room, Burton said.
The woman was not injured during the incident, he said.

Wagner was booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. He was released Saturday after posting $3,000 bail, jail records show.
