Among the items on the long agenda is discussion on the proposed Casino in Calexico. The Manzanita Band of the Kumeyaay Nation has submitted an application to the Bureau of Indian Affairs for acquisition of land in Calexico for placement in trust for the Casino. The Supervisors will discuss the possibility of supporting that application. Former District 5 Supervisor Wally Leimgruber may make an appearance to speak against the proposal. The Board will also discuss an increase in fees for birth and death certificates. If the fee increases are approved, they would go into effect January 1st. The Supervisors convene their meeting Tuesday at 8:30 am at the Administration Center on Main Street in El Centro.
