How to win at Richmond City Council roulette: Jobs, open space, and oppose Casino

If you are a candidate running for Richmond City Council in 2010, here is the winning formula for attracting votes in an Excel spreadsheet format (( Jobs+Open Space)-Casino Gambling)=Victory in the upcoming election.
In a poll leaked around town, and first reported by Richmond Councilmember Tom Butt, likely Richmond voters oppose Casino style gambling (55-percent). Additionally the Whitehurst Mohser poll shows voters want more jobs and open space.
The report shows an increase in strong opposition to the proposed Indian Gaming project at Pt Molate to have from 38% in December 2009, to 49% (current). Strong support dropped from 25% to 23% in the same period.
This despite unanimous support for the Casino by Contra Costa County Supervisors, who many believe gave away the store to developers for a bag of beans.
Likely Richmond voters also indicated their preference for candidates that would “Make job creation a priority,” and “preserve open space”. Only 31% say they would vote for candidates that support “building a casino in Richmond,” while 36% ranked “fighting crime as a top priority”.
The survey sample of 400 was collected March 27-31, 2010, and has amstatistical margin of error of 4,9%; 95% confidence level.
