The Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau has sent a letter to Gov. Jerry Brown stating its members still don't support an Indian casino in Yuba County.
"Breaking up agricultural areas is commonly recognized as creating blight on other farming interests in that same area and eventually erodes the entire agriculture industry," states the letter, written by past bureau president Matt Conant. "The California State Farm Bureau has identified off-reservation casinos as a source of concern in rural areas."
The bureau passed a resolution opposing the casino in 2005, according to the letter, dated Oct. 18. Brown has until next September to approve or deny the casino project, which would require go-ahead from both the federal and state governments to proceed.
