Penryn, CA – Cheryl Schmit, director of Stand Up for California! today issued the following statement regarding Federal Search Warrants executed today at North Fork Rancheria in North Fork ,CA:

“We at Stand Up for California! are very concerned about the news reports of search warrants being executed by Federal agents at the North Fork Rancheria.  Information we have received from the Department of the Interior indicates these warrants are the result allegations over a serious misallocation of funds.”

Schmit continues: “The allegations raise serious concerns, not only about the ability of the North Fork Rancheria to manage its own resources, but more importantly, about the legitimacy of the information used by North Fork in its application for Federal approval of an off-reservation casino. One would hate to think that that approval was based on financial disinformation or outright lies. Stand Up for California! will be monitoring events as they progress.”
