Some of the basic facts are that firstly, there are huge deficits that California is experiencing and it is only increasing. Apart from that is the fiscal prudent that are looking at various options of getting in some new revenue. This is almost similar to the gaming industry that gets in huge number of dollars that is added up to the states financial funds. However if the online game was regulated with the right laws and had a taxed intrastate Poker system then they could show in a new stream of legislators whom they can count on an annual basis.

It is not know how much revenue the state would get from the intrastate Internet poker. There is however several million of local people in California who play poker on illegal site that are housed offshore. Since these games have no protection for consumer and no regulations while there are is no revenue that the state employs.

The CTBA has a wrong notion that legalizing online poker would leave to violation of the internet poker mostly the Tribal gambling compacts that the tribes of California have to comply with.
